1.) Do you own your own horse?
Yes, I own two (I ride 7)- Sir (QH) and Balrog (Friesian) (Roggy for sort. And yes, he is named after the LOTR Balrog, this horse really fits that name and character, trust me). Sir was abused (not neglected, beaten) and I took him in a few months ago. He is a real treasure :) and loves kids. He is constantly teaching me new things lately, which I find extremely fascinating and continually enjoying. Balrog thinks he is the hottest stud around and is extremely photogenic. Roggy wouldn't hurt a fly, but he does scare/intimidate a lot of people who are new to being around him. He is very mischievous and has quite the personality!
2.) Whats your favorite breed of horse?
I have two - Quarter horses and Friesian horses. The athleticism and versatility of the QH and the elegance and beauty of the friesian.
3.) What do you ride? (Western or english?)
I ride both. I do cutting and ranch sorting; I also do dressage.
4.) Do you get your horse christmas presents? (If yes, what kind of presents?)
Of course! I usually just bring them extra treats, however, this year I got them jolly balls and other fun things.
5.) What is your favorite thing about horses?
Their personality and ability to prove you wrong somehow about something at some point or another. They can be as good at teaching us as we can be at teaching them. And their endless forgiveness.
6.) Do you have any advice for people who are just beginning in the horse-world?
Never think a horse or yourself is at its highest, there is always room for improvement and more learning. Never doubt the horse, always listen and they will listen back.
7.) What is the funniest/strangest thing you`ve heard a non-horsey person say about horses?
All true quotes that I have heard over the last few years (the few of many):
"They are the dumbest animals I have ever heard of."
"Gross! What IS that? Get me out of here, I changed my mind."
"It doesn't bite does it?"
"Oh that stench! Don't you keep air fresheners in here?"
8.) How long have you been riding?
I have been riding for twelve endless and wonderful years. :)
9.) When you grow up do you want a life that involves horses?
I started into horses when I was about 5 or 6. I have loved and wished all these years to keep this life I have revolving around horses. So far it is. :)
