1.) Do you own your own horse?

-No, I lease two.

-I don't have one. Judge by the horse, not the breed/color/age.

6.) Do you have any advice for people who are just beginning in the horse-world?

-You have to be dedicated if you want to make it. You have to know when to trust yourself and when to take advice and criticism from trainers, owners, other riders, etc. And you should probably start out rich.

7.) What is the funniest/strangest thing you`ve heard a non-horsey person say about horses?

-"Do they sleep?" - my mother. I thought she meant "do they sleep standing up" but she actually meant "do they sleep at all" because she's never seen a sleeping horse. Dear god.

1.) Do you own your own horse?

Yes, I own two (I ride 7)- Sir (QH) and Balrog (Friesian) (Roggy for sort. And yes, he is named after the LOTR Balrog, this horse really fits that name and character, trust me). Sir was abused (not neglected, beaten) and I took him in a few months ago. He is a real treasure :) and loves kids. He is constantly teaching me new things lately, which I find extremely fascinating and continually enjoying. Balrog thinks he is the hottest stud around and is extremely photogenic. Roggy wouldn't hurt a fly, but he does scare/intimidate a lot of people who are new to being around him. He is very mischievous and has quite the personality!

2.) Whats your favorite breed of horse?

I have two - Quarter horses and Friesian horses. The athleticism and versatility of the QH and the elegance and beauty of the friesian.

3.) What do you ride? (Western or english?)

I ride both. I do cutting and ranch sorting; I also do dressage.

4.) Do you get your horse christmas presents? (If yes, what kind of presents?)

Of course! I usually just bring them extra treats, however, this year I got them jolly balls and other fun things.

5.) What is your favorite thing about horses?

Their personality and ability to prove you wrong somehow about something at some point or another. They can be as good at teaching us as we can be at teaching them. And their endless forgiveness.

6.) Do you have any advice for people who are just beginning in the horse-world?

Never think a horse or yourself is at its highest, there is always room for improvement and more learning. Never doubt the horse, always listen and they will listen back.

7.) What is the funniest/strangest thing you`ve heard a non-horsey person say about horses?

All true quotes that I have heard over the last few years (the few of many):

"They are the dumbest animals I have ever heard of."

"Gross! What IS that? Get me out of here, I changed my mind."

"It doesn't bite does it?"

"Oh that stench! Don't you keep air fresheners in here?"

8.) How long have you been riding?

I have been riding for twelve endless and wonderful years. :)

9.) When you grow up do you want a life that involves horses?

I started into horses when I was about 5 or 6. I have loved and wished all these years to keep this life I have revolving around horses. So far it is. :)

1. No, but I'm about to buy!! (:

2. Thoroughbred

3. English (switched from riding West. 5 months ago...I rode West. for 11 yrs.)

4. I bring my lesson horses peppermints (:

5. The way they can connect with you, how you can almost read each others' minds when you have a strong bond. <3

6. Don't be intimidated, take constructive criticism, don't be walked all over, everybody begins as a beginner, do NOT compare yourself to other riders, keep your chin up & heels down, watch videos about horses, read books about horses and horse health, and most of all...don't forget about the animal under you..they always come first.

7. Thoroughbreds are stallions that run real fast. Only midgets can ride them.

I kid you not, I've heard this a lot before..

8. Nearly 12 yrs (I'm almost 14).

9. Of course! I'm going to be an equine vet and own a boarding & training facility (:

(: Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or Happy Holidays!! (:

1) Yep, 3. I work at 3 barns though and ride ponies for other people lots of eventers and hunters.

2) A large mutt pony, a medium Welsh/arab cross, and a quarter horse.

3) English

4) Yeah, I get all the lesson horses Christmas presents too. Just a big bag of treats though which is like $8.

5) My favorite horse related thing is the amazing way hay has found it's way into every thing I own. Seriously. My phone stopped working yesterday and opened it up and there was TONS of hay dust and particles between the phone and battery.

6) Work at it hard, work at the barn to get familiar with the horses and work they involve.

7) One of the barns I work at is a lesson barn and a little girl (about 4 or 5) was coming down to the barn with her mom with a bag of carrots, and all the horses in the paddocks were reaching over the fence trying to get a carrot. The girl and her mom got scared and I shoo'd the horses away and the mom looks at me and asks why they were reaching over the fence, I tell her that they probably smelt the carrots. She looks at me with the BIGGEST eyes and goes "HORSES CAN SMELL?!". Not the little girl, the grown woman asked me that.

8) About 13 years. I started leadline classes when I was 4.

9) Graduated from high school earlier to get into the hunter circuit, and getting a degree in business management to hopefully manage a large show barn.

1.) No, but I lease a mare and take lessons.

2.) Quarter horses :)

3.) Western! :)

4.) Yes! I bought her a giant bag of peppermint horse treats (her favorite!)

5.) EVERYTHING! (except that they somehow find a way to get as dirty as possible and get hay/twigs/bedding/grass/mudd in their tails and manes right after you groom them)

6.) Don't expect to become a great rider and get your own horse right away. It takes time, patience and practice. Sometimes there will be stubborn, difficult horses. Sometimes you're instuctor will repeatedly make you do something that seems REALLY stupid (but later you'll find out that is wasn't stupid at all) or even say something that makes you upset. But don't give up! The life of equestrians is hard, but those little moments when your horse does exactly what you want without being difficult or you're instructor praises you for something done right and when you finally win a ribbon at a show are AWESOME and totally worth all of the hard work!

7.) "How long does it take for ponies to become horses?" And "Will it eat me if I get too close?"

8.) 6 years

9.)Yes! I either want to be a veterinarian or (hopefully) become a pro rider. Eventually I want to have

an equine rescue and rehab center.

1) Yes, after many many years :)

2) Friesians :D There just so darn pretty I can't stand it!

3) English, dressage and a little jumping.

4) Yes, plenty of candy canes (she loves mints in general :)

5) I like the fact that you expect them to be big scary creatures when you first get into them, but they're all just big sucks waiting for someone to treat them like a baby :P

6) Breathing out helps in many situations (you'll understand what I mean if you've tried it)

7) 'Is the saddle what you put on the head or the back?" *facepalm*

8) Almost 9 years! I can hardly believe it haha.

9) I'd wanted to be an equine vet or nurse, but I have a feeling I'll end up with a more 'normal' job, but hopefully still riding :) Horses have been a part of my life for so long that I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had to stop riding or being around them.

1) Yes, 2 actually.

2) Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, or Warmblood

3) Both. :)

4) I usually get money for Christmas, that I end up having to use for feed or vet bills, so that ends up being their "present". I'll give them a treat and extra grooming time, but that's about it unless I get another horse type gift.

5) They don't judge you, or spread lies about you, and you can ALWAYS count on them. They also aren't backstabbers, and don't try to blame everything they did on you. :)

6) Don't go to the barn if you are angry. If you choose to anyway, you will soon find out what I am talking about....

7) "If your horse is a gelding, why does it still have a penis??" Oh dear. That was by a 35yo woman.

8) All of my life. I started showing at 6, and weekly *show to win* shows at 8.

9) I think horses will always be in my life.
Chloe

4) New Headcollar, 2 Likits, A new Rug, And 2 bags of Apple Crunchies.

5) The fact that you can tell them anything and they wont judge you

6) Make sure you have experience before jumping into buying your own horse, It annoys me when people have been riding about a year and have as many horses as they want, I worked hard for my horse and I made sure I was experienced enough before getting him.

7) My friend said to me that my horse was absolutely massive, My horse is 11.2hh...

8) 9 years

10) Yep

1)Yes, I do (parents do, anyway!)

2)American Saddlebred <3 them!

3)English, saddleseat amateur show pleasure.

4)My parents got him all kinds of stuff, I got him a pound of mixed candies.

5)Their eyes, all horses have such soulful eyes, it makes you wonder what they're thinking about, even the one's with blue eyes.

6) Find a good trainer and a good barn, one that you can connect to on a friend level.

7)Horse back riding isn't a sport. Oh ya, then how is golfing a sport? - idiot

8)Since I was 5, 14 now.

9) I want a career in the medical field, so I don't want my own farm, but I would like a sting of show horses.
