Saddle bronc is more difficult, your have to time your spur action more carefully and make sure your bronc rein is neither too long or too short. Traditionally and even today saddle bronc is the most carefully judged rough stock event in a rodeo because this is the traditionally job of a cowboy in breaking a new horse.

Bareback is a lot of stretch and snap on your body, though it is more punishing than saddle bronc it is easier to accomplish. The most effective bareback method is to wedge you hand in the rigging, lean back and reach deep with your spurs and try to keep in time.

I did all 3 rough stock for many years and found that bareback was the easiest although the most punishing on my body. Saddlebronc took a lot more skill and timing to get a good score and bulls....well riding bulls is just nuts to begin with but I love all three.

Saddle bronc can ruin your ankles. Bareback it is easier to fall. They are both hard on the derriere. Take your pick. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Most people start out doing saddle bronc. I think it would be less challenging because you have stirrups to balance with. But it seems like it would tear up your butt in that saddle. Both are terrible for the neck.

Good luck (:

For me its easier bareback but its different for everyone. Try both and see which is better.

I would not know but I did have a pony who would never walk, trot or canter but bucked all the time. I gave up with the saddle as I found it easier to sit - but I think this pony did not exactly buck like a bronc! It helped having a closer contact with the horse.

Neither are easy. What is easy to me, may not be as easy for the next person. You will just have to try them out to see which one you like more.

I would say it's easier if you ride a saddle bronco than a bareback bronco because the cowboy puts all his weight into the saddle strips by pressing down with all force in them and hold the rope tightly to keep his self in the saddle and on the horse for the whole eight seconds. Bareback they just use their legs, and spurs to keep their self on the horse. So if it was me i would ride a saddle bronco. Also i think its great you want to show up all those big time cowboys and ride a saddle or bareback bronco! You Go Cowgirl!!!!!

Edit- Their both hard, but your going have to try them both to see witch one you can do better you may be able to do them both. Good luck and have fun!
