my teacher at school has her own way of teaching and instead of using correct termsinology, like "collection" she says "don't go any faster." this is ok, but i'm truly confused. i was always taught that a sidepass was total movement sideways whereas "shoulder in" "hip in" were lateral movements. she says that a sidepass has enough momentum just for that one step sideways and a lateral movement is a sidepass only with more forward momentum. say instead of going directely sideways, walking forward and sideways is lateral movement for her i was just wondering what was correct in the real world. i know i have to put up with her way for one more class! thanks bunches! also any reiners out there how do i get a nice hindquarter pivot???

The sidepass is your horse standing straight and then slightly moving over.

Pretend the I below is your horse

..............................I ----------> I

Your horse should and would maintain the same direction, and movement as it began and when it ends.

A lateral movement is:

................................... I->^

.............................. I->^

......................... I->^

.................... I->^

Obviously the movement wouldn't be as drastric haha that's a far fetched kind of sketch, but you can pretty much get the idea.

I ride western, dressage, hunter. A side pass goes sideways. There should be no foreward motion at all to a good side pass. Lateral movements have forward motion anywhere from a teeny bit to lots. You are no longer four feet following a straight forward track, but deviating from it. I suppose a sidepass could be termed lateral because you aren't going forward with four feet- it would be the extreme in laterals.

Start slow with the hind leg pivot. You want the inside hind to plant and carry the weight. We use a spiral technique to get the horse really balanced at all speeds and used to much motion in a small space. This encourages them to circle in place at speed when we want that. You want the horse to work well between the reins- no shoulder dropping, light rein contact gets maximum response with no neck bend. When the horse gets to this point, we start the planting. Sit back and deep on the seat bone over the hoof you want to plant [inside hind], give outside neck pressure, outside leg is at or slightly forward of the girth, inside is supportive at the girth. Start with a slow movement, one leg at a time, then settle and praise. Drop the reins to settle. You can also practice from the ground very easily. Then you can see if the horse is bending around or actually doing a true pivot. For this, we stay in the neck region and use a whip to touch the girth area to mimic the leg cue. Take your time, keep things as smooth and relaxed as possible and remember to praise.

In western...that I ride...

sidepass is sideways...horse's face straight forward...and no forward movement...we use the sidepass to pass over a pole on the ground, front feet on one side...back on the other side of the pole.

Lateral...was sideways and going forward at same time...still with horse facing straight forward. I learned it as 'two tracking.'...for moving diagonally across the arena.

For the pivot...are you looking for a haunch turn...or the roll back, or a spin?

This explains nicely how to get a haunch turn...http://members.aol.com/mfthorses/trltrlz2.htm

the adaptation is in undemanding terms in terms of the land mass obtained; Germany is lots extra advantageous than Palestine. in terms of ideology they are quite comparable. under Nazism,a infant born in Germany grew to become a citizen at start provided that it grew to become into grew to become into ethnically German. All ethnic Germans by using the international have been welcome to pass to Germany and declare citizenship as a racial start-top. Like Zionists,maximum have been atheists. The Czecholand - on the instant the Czech Republic - grew to become into invaded and in truth annexed on grounds than many centuries in the past it grew to become into predominately ethnic German,i.e. Nazism held that Germany had on ethnic grounds a "historic" declare to the Czecholand. Had Hitler's conflict met with success he might have depopulated it of Czechs and repopulated it with ethnic Germans from around the international. style of like the West economic enterprise. There are adequate similarities to fill a e book. the two have been formally and legally so-called "ethnic states" - completely for one ethnic team - and the two ideologies are ruled by using violence,crude militarism and fanatical nationalism. the two posited a solidarity of land,human beings and government. the two spoke back to criticism by using linking it to ethnic bigotry. the two used a similar kind of around-reasoning slogans: in the 30's we heard lots approximately "Germany's top to Exist". every physique who criticized the government grew to become into accused on needing the "annihilation" of the German human beings. Zionism is purely Jewish Nazism.
