horses hate dalmatian-edit?

the dal [dreamer] is very submissive,she loves everybody,the only thing we can think of is when our baby was born she got too close and my mare remembers that that was 2 yrs. ago and she still acts the same towards her...and believe me if the horses are out in yard dreamer is in house,this has been going on for 6 yrs.dreamers 7

I have a dalmation and 3 horses and it is the exact same way. I have 3 other dogs that the horses don't notice, but they all go after my dalmation and he is scared to death of them. I thought it might be the pattern on him, I really do think he is another horse and not a dog like the other 3. It has to be something with the spots, possibly looking like a paint horse or something. Not sure but this has bee going on for 5 years with me, so I don't think it is going to change.

i have a paint thats 10 and a dal thats 11 and they like each other enough that my dal(kaden) rides in the saddle. I think your problem may be that you have a jealous horse and need to somehow show them both affection at the same time but dont put yourself or them in harms way.

idk. my horses just think it's a game to chase our dogs around. scold the horse when you have her haltered, but don't try to do anything when she is loose. dreamer will be ok if she stays out of the way. it's ok for your mare to not like dreamer, just don't let her get hurt. it's good that she stays inside, she is much safer. (i knew a dog that wasn't afraid of horses, got in the way all the time, (even when the horses hated him), he got kicked and broke his jaw. he still never stayed out of the way) be glad that your dog is a good girl and stays out of your mare's way

horses and dogs don't always get along and she probably is jealus if you used to pay more attention to her and now you don't pay that much attention to her
