I have been using a daily wormer for my horse (cw) and i was wondering if a daily wormer or a paste wormer in a tube is better to use. I didnt know if the wormer in a tube would be stronger and kill more types of worms.

You just can't go wrong using a good daily wormer like Strongid properly. They have guidelines to follow to make sure you're getting the most possible effect.
Stongid also has the Preventacare program...ask your vet about it...colic surgery 100% paid for by Pfizer if they ever need it while in the program. If it didn't work, they wouldn't make such promises.

Im sure your horse would be worm free at the moment using a daily wormer (which I have never used and don't know anything about)
I use a tube of paste every 2 months, you need to rotate, but just changing brands doesn't mean you are changing type you have to look at the active ingredient and my saddlery supplier said as long as you give them the one with the different active ingredient about twice a year you should be right.
The best ones to buy are the ones that do bots (in summer) and the ones that erradicate stroyngles (large and small) also called bloodworm and redworm, because these worms can cause a lot of damage to your horses gut.
Hope this helps Sandi

I have always been taught that rotating is the best also. I have also been told to worm every month, but to skip every fourth month. I also know people who do not worm and their horses seem fine and mares foaled without any problems. So there are really a lot of different views.
The shortest time span I have known to worm is a seven day wormer. Usually you give the seven day wormer, followed by a monthly (or bimonthly) wormer to a hore that has not wormed in a long time.

You can use both. When you're using a daily dewormer you still have to worm them with the paste wormer every other month.
Also you need to rotate your wormers. Even the daily ones. Or the parasites will become immune to it.

Our horses are on a continuous wormer and receive Ivermectin paste in the Spring and Fall; per our veterinary suggestions. They're doing great!!

i didnt even know there was a DAILY wormer.
Your supposed to worm every season, so 4 times a year.
And like every body is saying you should change the brand every time. You can use the same one couple times in a row, but its better to try and get a different one each time.

I use paste wormers. You know you have to alternate them right? When you use paste wormers, you always want to use at least 3 or more different wormers. I like paste wormers. So far they haven't failed me.

worming daily must be a b*&ch... i worm every two months using a paste in a tube... http://www.equimax-gel.com/p-equimaxpuben/display.aspx?srv=p-equimax&typ=pub&lang=en&cmd=view&style=styles/superhome.xsl&monrep=p-equimaxpuben&select=&default=1
usually equimax gold... but because you must rotate the brands to get the worms that build up an immunity to it... every 6 monts i change to ammo then back again....
My horse has never had worms and he lives with contact to 11 other horses and we trail ride and go to shows and p/c... i would not like to worm every day it would suck.... if you read the back of the packet on the paste wormers it will tell you what worms they kill and protect against and some are much better then others... the only thing with the paste wormers in a tube is if you dont know how to admister them properly or your horse is wise to you and makes it hard for you then your worming might be a waste of time... but apart from that i love the paste tube wormes so efficent and time savvy... \
good luck :)

Okay... so the best thing to do, for most complete coverage on parasites, is to rotate. Different dewormers kill different thing. Recommendation is to deworm every 2months, with a cycle of... Fenbendazole, Ivermectin, Pyrantel Pamoate. Use one to start, the next 2mo later, and the third 2 mo after that... and continue. Strongid, SafeGuard, and Zimectrin work great!

We have ALWAYS used Ivermectin & we have never rotated & we have NEVER had a problem with ANY of our horses. We use to worm every 6 to 8 weeks, now we take samples to the vet, usually every few months & have it checked. If there are parasites, we worm, if not, we don't....
