I have owned horses for a littl eover 12 years. I started off with ponies, as i was little, and now i own and compete very successfully on Appaloosa horses.

I compete in Dressage, Hack, Hunter under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Equitation and Horsemanship, Trail and Bareback. I also use to compete in SHowjumping and Eventing, and sporting. I also do SHowmanship and Halter, though my horse is a performance horse, not so much a halter.

I was goign to Nationals last month, but my horse got sick, so i worked up there instead, it was fun, but it would have bene my last youth show, so its a bit disappointing.

Anyway, great to see a Horse category because now the questions are categorised, rather than scouting teh General all the time.

I ride both only because at 4 I started riding English and jumping. When I was 8 my parents got into breeding and showing Quarter Horses so I started western so I could get my all around titles. But I also did 3 day eventing -dressage.

I Ride English I Think It Is Easier And With My Family Being Really Rich And All I Am Only Aloud To Ride English!
2007-05-11 07:03:33 UTC
I love them, too!! I started out riding western, but switched to english after a year or two because I wanted to jump. After I started riding english, I learned dressage and jumping and began to show in 3-day eventing, which is my absolute favorite! It is such a thrill! Every now and then, I do like to borrow a friend's horse so I can just go neck-rein on the trail, though.

I love horses a lot!! I ride english as well as western. I prefer english... Jumping is so fun! speed is fun too! and do you ride english or western?

I ran barrels and poles, I was never too wild about western judged events, with the exception of reining. I have always wanted to jump, and now that I am older, I can appreciate dressage, so when I start back riding, it will probably be English.

WESTERN! On a great Quarter Horse!

There is nothing else!

Barrel Racing, Cutting, anything that involves speed! =0)

Western Pleasure is to 'showy', and political for me, and English is too proper for this Country Girl! LOL

Initally rode western because i would hold onto the horn for balance. in the past year i have taken lessons and learned to ride english. English is more work but worth it. Saddle is lighter for horse and rider. plus the saddle pads are much more cuter in english style!!

I am blessed to have a quarter horse that has the versatility to go western or english. He is from cutting horse blood so we can work cattle, or step into a dressage arena. The best of both worlds and we have a blast doing anything and everything.
2007-05-09 19:25:41 UTC
I have a short stocky quarter horse (14.2 hands) and we ride western. We don't really rodeo much. We do little time trials and just small bets or something close to home with friends, but thats about it. His name is RC Too Much Luck or Lucky for short. His nickname from the trainer is Denis The Menace though because of his attitude, and the markings on his face look kind of like a turkey. He's my best friend and all I could ever ask for. He's just like a little kid though. He tests your patients, but knows when to stop. I love him though. He's got a lot of character too. He loves country music especially George Strait.

I love riding English especially jumping. I'm jumping like 2'3" and i want to go higher, and maybe one day compete in the grand prix jumping competitions.

I ride english. I am an eventer (have competed up to CCI and CIC***, one level before pro and olympics). I also do hunters, jumpers, and dressage! I think horses are the best animals ever! It is so cool how you are riding an animal that has a whole different mind. And he can choose what to do but you train him so he listens to you!
