Western/English Riding Open- what is this class. is it a pattern class or is it a freestyle class with music? at apple blossem classic MI

All they do is have all the riders in the ring at once (usually) and ask you to walk, trot, lope, stop, back up, all that. No patterns, no freestyle. Just going around the ring doing what they say. It's like an equitation class, I suppose.

I have never heard of a class like this- usually there is an english open division, and a western open division. Separated. Maybe they are combining the class? Maybe it is a mixed class with western riders and english riders. That would make the most sense. Hope I helped!

they're most likely combining a class of english and western and making it open so everyone all ages and stages can enter.
it's just a flat class with gates such as walk, jog/trot, and lope/canter and of course backing.
