It isn't really a good idea to buy a horse you have not inspected in person. This one must be amazing and I can tell that you really want it. What kind of horse is it and what makes it so special to you? You did not give enough information to get exact millage. Here in South Dakota it cost $5 per mile if you have an insured driver get it done. Shipping on a big truck can be very hard on a horse. I try never to have them in a trailer for more then 12 hours and even then they get hay water and a break.

I know a lot of shipping companies charge like a base fee between $50-$500. Then you pay for all the gas and like $3 a mile or something. Some places do it by the hour, so if it takes like 3 hours they charge like $20 an hours so it would be like $60 on top of the other cots. I'm not positive of the rates out there, so things may vary. Hope this helps in some way! :)

Every company is difffernt. You can google horse transporters and call up some of the companies near you or near them for a price. I don't know if Mac's goes that far, but you should call them. They are based in Maryland and are really good. I paid them 300 hundred in November to ship my trail horse and We paid 4 hundred to ship two horses in July.

For the miles, just mapquest it. That will give you a pretty good idea. If you don't have the exact street address where the horse is, look up a business in that town, then mapquest from that address. That will give you a pretty close ball park. As far as cost, around here the going rate is $2 per loaded mile. There is a site online available where you can post your information, and shippers bid....kind of like ebay, but I can't remember the name of it. You'd just have to look.

When I did research to get a horse shipped they wanted about 50 cent per mile and charged 150 for loading and some additional charges for stoping and watering and feeding the horse. Go to google maps and find the distance between Deleware and Illinois. Good luck.

What everyone says about price is just about right... My word of caution to you is to find a shipper that doesn't stop and take your horse out. Some people prefer this because they think it is easier on the horse, but in my experience it is easier to keep the horse in the trailer that it has already been comfortably with and keep driving. Stop for food and water of course but no need to take them out of trailer until they are at the end. Especially for a short journey of 14 hours or so.

I've used Cox Equine Transport in Texas and Bob Hubbard Transport out of CA - both were wonderful. Call them (do a web search for them and get their 800 numbers). Since gas went up, shipping has too. I used to ship coast to coast for $1200, now it is double that!

I used Nationwide horse transportation and they did great!!! I moved my mare from IL to CO. It cost about $400 but that was 7 yrs ago so I am sure it will cost more now with gas prices and all.

Typically they charge $1.50 per mile. If there are other people who are transporting then it will be less. Be careful who you have ship them because some comapnies take terrible care of the horses. Find one through your trainer that you can trust.

You're not shipping that far say as a horse going to Hawaii.

"Google" horse shippers and start making telephone calls and gathering your information.......

Its split with the amount of horses on the trip sharing the expenses.

Only the company can give you the exact details.

It depends on the company. I don't know anybody down there seeing how I am in Canada but normally they charge per km (or in your case, per mile).

i don't reccomend it, as the horse will stare or become dehydrated.
