1. What discipline do you ride? Why did you pick that one?
--Western, reining and cutting. I live in Texas...not too much English going on here. Also, I love the riding. I've ridden English a couple times, and just never got too in to it. The whole jumping/dressage...meh.
2. For those with a horse: is your horse teaching you, or are you teaching the horse? Or were you both inexperienced and you're learning together?
--A little bit of both. The horse I have now wasn't my first horse, but he was my first green horse. He was badly trained when I got him, and it a while to get to the point we are today. He's taught me his quirks and how to work around them, and I think I'm teaching him not to be a brat, haha.
3. Your favorite breed, but choose one!?
--Quarter Horse.
4. Favorite color?
--Bays. I also think chestnuts can be pretty, but I really love bay horses.
5. What's your preference mare vs. gelding vs. stallion, in terms of riding them?
Geldings. I had a mare, and she was a sweetheart, but I really think I bond better with geldings. I don't know why. I'd NEVER try a stallion, haha.
6. Do you show? How often? Big or little?
--Yes. Uh...when I was in high school I showed a lot more. I'm in college now, so I don't have as much time. I've done mostly little shows, with a few slightly larger-scale rodeos here and there.
7. Would you rather have a sensitive, light, fun, but spooky horse, or a kinda lazy, totally laid back, but bombproof horse?
--My horse is the first one, and I love him to bits. But honestly, it's exhausting sometimes. I wish sometimes I could just sit back and not constantly worry about what's going to make him flip out. He's getting better, but we've still got a long way to go. So, can I have an in-between?
8. Ride hunters or jumpers?
--Um...hunters? I don't ride English.
9. Go foxhunting or ride dressage?
--Foxhunting sounds neat. But I've never done either.
10. Have a horse that is too big for you or a horse that is too small for you (in height only, you AREN'T too heavy!!)?
--Too small, I'd think. Horses for reining and cutting can't be too big, though ideally I'd get one just right for me. But yeah, I tend to go for smaller horses that are agile. Better for my disciplines.
11. Fall off rather painlessly but clearly through your own fault, or get minorly injured but clearly through the horse's fault?
--My own fault but painless. It'd be embarrassing, but at least I'm not hurt.
12. Did you know there is a difference between buckskin and dun? If you did tell me without googling it!
--Yes! I couldn't give you the whole technical term, but I know duns have black dorsal stripes and stockings, right? They can also be different colors, whereas buckskins are just that grayish/cream color. By the way, I bet a lot of people use Google, haha. I may be wrong, but I think that's what it is.
13. How long have you been riding?
--Since I was itty-bitty. But I guess I REALLY started when I was 5, like with lessons and real riding. So 15 years.
14. Can you tell when a horse is lame?
--Yeah, most of the time. Sometimes I can't, but typically I can, especially if it's glaringly obvious.
15. If you could own a horse farm anywhere in the world, where would it be?
--I don't know. Texas is doing okay for me. I don't really want a horse farm, though.
