I just bought a bit at a tack swap that was supposed to be a Mylers Combo bit. Got it home, and now a see a makers mark that I don't recognize and the Mylers site dosen't have a bit in this model...might just be a old Myler, but I'd love to know if anyone recognizes the mark. It looks like a backwards capital R with a forward capital L linked to it inside of a circle. The numbers 908 are also stamped in the other ring. Please only answer if you know for real...I can guess as well as anyone, but I'm interested in actual factual knowledge of the maker (-:

Is it possible to show a picture of the whole bit? Perhaps people wouldn't know by the mark but by the look of the bit. Just a suggestion. Mylers can be very unique looking so I assume it may not look like an everyday bit.

I know you only want "real" answers but I thought of a Robarts Pinchless bit. But that's just going by the "R".

Sorry if my "guess" is incorrect. Just trying to help.

Also, maybe it is a handmade bit..the 908 could also be for the type of metal that was used rather than a style #.

I like playing Sherlock Holmes :-))....so, here is a picture of the North and Judd that L Bentford mentioned..is it the same? Seems that they were known for making spurs. At least that is what I found.

The bit is made by North & Judd. The anchor is their registered trademark.

North & Judd bits and spurs are highly collectable. I don't know when they went out of business or were absorbed into another company. You may not be old enough to remember them but N&J products were in most tack shops. ('60's-'79)

A North & Judd patent was registered w/US Patent office in 1980

North & Judd Mfg.(after August Buerman) made " buckles and other fasteners" and saddlery hardware . ("Anchor Brand")

There's a lot to be researched on google.

I DO know what I'm talking about.

EDIT I know you said it looks like "L R".There's an LW bits< columbia TN. In their line up, there's a (combination) bit that is nearly identical to yours. http://www.lwbits.com/
